Yet again the headlines are filled with another mass shooting. These headlines have become far too common and besides the typical "Gun Control Now" statement, people are asking "why". Why do they do it? How do we start to recognize the potential for someone wanting to do such a terrible thing? How can we stop this pattern?
I came across this article on the NY Times this morning, and it most certainly starts the discussion on "why". "The motivations of men who commit mass shootings are often muddled, complex or unknown. But one common thread that connects many of them — other than access to powerful firearms — is a history of hating women, assaulting wives, girlfriends and female family members, or sharing misogynistic views online, researchers say."
